Najjanankumbi, Uganda: Uganda’s oldest opposition party, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has today tasked Gen. Salim Saleh to come out publicly and clear the air about his purported relationship with the Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago.
Addressing journalists at their offices in Najjanankumbi, the deputy spokesperson, John Kikonyogo said that last week, the public was awash with handwritten memos purportedly authored by Gen. Saleh, directed towards Lukwago, threatening to withdraw his support to him.
He says that this time around, the FDC will not take a stance as it has been the norm in the past whenever allegations against their party leaders have been circulating in the media.
He says that Lukwago being their deputy president, they want Saleh to come out clear on this matter and state that he authored the memos, and expound more specifically on the type of support he is offering to Lord Mayor, failure to which, the party cannot take mere illogical baseless conclusions serious.
He says that such allegations have tarnished the party’s reputation domestically and internationally, and that’s why they strongly stand with their leaders as a party when faced with such slandering acts not until the alleged author comes out straight.
